[When Cyril finds Sorrel he's sitting at the border of the garden, underneath some greenery that had been overgrown when the weather had been warm enough for such a thing. Now, it was sleeping, waiting for the spring to bring forth new growth. Sorrel was sitting in its shadow-- he lifts a hand to catch Cyril's eye as he approaches.]
[Cyril comes over and sits with Sorrel. He has a pouch with some
maple candy, very similar to the candy he and Pel would make all of the
time and share with the Clan. He offers it to Sorrel to take one if he
like.]
Well... Adasse likes shiny things. And things that occupy his mind. If he
didn't already have one, I'd suggest getting him one of my puzzle boxes.
But, we could think of something that you can make or get that would follow
those same guidelines.
[At mention of the puzzle boxes, Sorrel had a brief, bright moment of hope-- swiftly dashed. Of course, Adasse already had that, and from Cyril. It would have been perfect, likely had been. He chewed quietly on his candy, grateful for the pause while he struggled to swallow that ugly mixure of adoration and poisonous jealousy that Cyril always seemed to inspire in him, these days.]
Food sounded like a good idea. But I'm not really... you know. [He waggles his fingers illustratively to indicate his lack of skill.] Good for much, really. And I don't even know why I'm getting so tied up about this, it's not as if anyone's asking me to do it. It just seems like the right idea.
[Cyril hummed thoughtfully, and manages to stop himself from
pointing out that Sorrel tied up is probably the exact sort of thing that
would make a good gift for Adasse.]
You are good at things. It's just about taking those talents and
applying them in a way that equals a gift.
Food isn't a bad idea, actually. There's a shortage after all. He'll
probably love it. We could even put it in a nice container. If you need a
place to make it, I'm sure I can convince Sam and Kirk to lend us their
kitchen for a bit.
[Sorrel probably wouldn't have been able to cope with that suggestion-- he's barely able to cope with the idea of baking a gift for someone he might like-like, and it was Sorrel's idea!]
Okay. Okay, that... that's could work. What makes bread more... fancier? [Gifts should be fancier than ordinary things, he's very sure. Maybe you could put some fruit in it... if....it weren't winter and even the latest harvests already picked clean. But jam? Jam. Maybe. Or maybe that would ruin the bread and the entire plan would be for naught and Adasse would just...
Sorrel sighs heavily and puts his head in his hands for a moment.]
Sorry. Okay. Do you know where I can get some jam? I have a stupid idea.

I know, and what a tragedy that would be. The world would weep for what it had lost.

[But then Sorrel snorts at his own joke, and sighs as his mind turns back to the topic at hand.]
I'll see you when you get down here, then?

[Cyril have you heard of how weird shemlen are or are you over that yet? Sorrel's never getting over it.]
And I don't have anything better to do, either.

[And he does. He heads straight to the Gallows.]

Aneth ara, Cyril. Got any smart ideas for me?

I'm sure it's not stupid. And we can try to hunt out some jam. Maybe Colin can help track some down.
