Inquisitor Cyril Lavellan had a bit of a reputation. He was kind and passionate and he played the Game with the best of them, but he also was known to be a bit of a flirt. He could often be seen flustering his military adviser and was never above charming nobles by teasing them. Enemies played up the rumors and made him sound like a hyper sexual elf who rose to power by bending over for the right people - never mind that he preferred men and most of the people who put him in power were women, or that they had done so because of his mark.

Despite his flirtatious ways, though, no one actually had reliable stories of taking him to bed. People assumed he and Dorian Pavus were lovers, but Dorian never said a word about the two sleeping together. Anyone who saw Cyril interact with The Iron Bull at the tavern might also assume the two of them were fucking, but again Bull never seemed to actually make it to Cyril's room.

Cyril was a flirt, but he was also very closed off. He considered people his friends, but he was extremely protective of his heart. He used to sleep around easily, but now with his position it felt like anyone who might be interested in him would care more about his throne. So he found himself falling uncomfortably into celibacy.

He wasn't sure how he felt about that.

Then one day he was riding his Dalish All-Bred, a beautiful black and white horse, when the horse tossed him. It was so unexpected. The animal had had no problems riding close to Rifts and demons but a silly fennec had spooked it by running too near a fire and casting a long shadow.

He felt his arm break and screamed. Solas was there, as the mage had been travelling with him, as was Bull and Dorian. They had gotten him back to the Inquisition camp. Despite traveling with two mages, neither of them were spirit healers. They set the bone as well as they could and then made plans to return to Skyhold.

The moment he returned to the castle, Cyril went to the healers tents. He was grateful he had made the mages allies, it meant they were near to heal him.

Cyril nodded at that and took his arm back. He was going to be very careful with it for a while. "What about after healing? The whole 'getting to know each other' bit?"

Sam moves to get up to go get some new bandages for a splint and sling, but stops, raising a brow. "Aren't we getting to know each other now?"

"I think so," Cyril replies with a smile. "Which Circle were you in?"

He knows what the Inquisitor meant when he said 'get to know each other' but he wasn't about to start down that path just yet. If he wasn't the Inquisitor it might have been a bit different, but since he was... well, he really didn't need word going around that he was using his position as a healer to get around.

"I ended up in Ostwick when my family went north. That was... some time ago."

Cyril seemed to consider that for a moment. "They tried to stay neutral, didn't they?" he asked. "Then there was a battle. I'm sorry that that happened." He seems pretty genuine about that too. It's well known that he supports mage freedom, so he seems to be regretful of the loss of life, not that the circle rebelled. "Did you have an opinion about the rebellion?"

At that Sam does turn to start putting away supplies.

"It was a long time coming. I'm still not wholly for it though. A lot of people got hurt, and it didn't exactly give mages the freedom they wanted. Thrust into a world without knowing how to deal with things outside the stone walls, being hunted and scraping for supplies? People are even more fearful of mages now as well and most want less to do with us then before. We're rather lucky you sided with us and gave us a place to stay."

Cyril nodded a bit at that, though he seemed a little troubled by the world that Sam was painting. "Do you know if there is anything else you need? Fiona tells me the general idea of how you are settling in, and I'm sure if there were big issues she would let me know immediately, but maybe there are smaller things that people don't complain to her about? Things they might tell a healer?"

Sam considers that for a moment, quietly wrapping up some bandages as he does so. "Warmer weather?" he asks, looking over his shoulder with a small grin. "I don't think you can control that though. I'm sure there have been reports about more blankets and warmer clothes to be supplied." Which was challenging since they had so many and the numbers kept growing.

"From the complaints I hear... I might suggest that perhaps setting up lessons for mages to learn skills for everyday life? Cooking, sewing, that kind of stuff."

Cyril's eyes lit up a bit. "That would be a fantastic idea! I could even help a bit, maybe share some survival techniques from a Dalish to the mages?" He could imagine that Cassandra would even be behind it, considering how annoyed she was over mages complaining at having to do work.

"It would have to be completely volunteer though. Part of what I'm trying to do is show that mages can make decisions for their own lives."

"Well I wouldn't make the classes directed at mages only. Favoritism and exclusion isn't going to help anyone get along, but I would certainly make sure that whomever is leading the lesson will be mage friendly." It wouldn't do well for one of them to take a class and being put in a corner now would it?

"Survival techniques. Think you'll be able to find time in that crazy schedule of yours?" From what he's seen, the Inquisitor was either off on missions or busy with sucking up to nobles.

"Well, considering that I'm going to be cooped up in Skyhold until my arm heals I might as well. Josephine will try to pack my time with talking to nobles and ambassadors. Spending time with a few handsome mages sounds much better." He grins at Sam. "Provided you're there and have friends who look as good as you."

Turning around, Sam raises his brows and crosses his arms over his chest. "Oh? Well what happens if I'm not there or the others aren't as good looking?" That's not mentioning that he doesn't know the specifics of what the Inquisitor finds 'good looking'.

"I'll be terribly disappointed but share some good old fashioned Dalish wisdom with otherwise clueless humans," Cyril replies easily, still grinning.

"I'll also assume you'd like some more personal one-on-one lessons."

"I suppose it'll depend on what kind of survival techniques you plan on teaching me. One-on-one," he says back with a grin of his own. "And I do hope you aren't referring to more extensive healing sessions because you didn't follow healer's instructions on resting that arm."

"You'd be surprised what I can do with one hand," Cyril responded, easily making it sound as lewd as possible.

Considering how their conversation had been going he should have expected the Inquisitor to say something like that. Well, to be fair, he did somewhat expect it, just in the way he said it. Sam finds himself a little wide eyed and his cheeks feeling a fair bit warmer.

"Oh?" It comes out like a question before he has time to really think about it. He is... curious, but also still trying to stay somewhat professional here.

Cyril raised his brow a bit. He seems a little more than amused. "Sure," he shares. He finds he really enjoys seeing this mage blush and wants to make it happen a bit more. "It only takes one skilled hand to pleasure myself, why wouldn't it be the same for being with another man?"

The mage finds his face getting a lot warmer after that, coughing lightly into a hand to hopefully cover that up. "I thought we were talking about survival techniques." After the short amount of time he's been with the Inquisitor he should have known something like that would happen.

Shortly after there is someone at the front of the ten clearing their throat before entering, nodding at Sam before addressing Cyril that the advisors requested his audience.

Cyril sighs a bit. "Duty calls," he says with a well put upon tone. "I hope I'll see more of you, Sam."

"I'm sure you will," he says back, brow raising at how Cyril's demeanor changed a bit when he had to go back 'on duty'. He had a sneaking suspicion this was going to be a long week.

Cyril does go and deal with the every day needs as the Inquisitor but the next day he is back in the healing tents. "I think I overworked my arm and might need it re-checked," he tells Sam, feigning innocence as he does.

This time Sam is not as surprised when the Inquisitor walks in, but still plenty surprised - he wasn't expecting him to come back so soon. For a moment all the mage can is stare at Cyril, as if calculating how much of what he said was true. It is eventually followed up by a sigh and Sam shaking his head while motioning to the cot.

"Alright. Let's have a look at it. What were you doing with it?" Hadn't he said to let it rest?

"Paperwork," Cyril replied helpfully. "A very dangerous pasttime, I'm afraid." He smiled at Sam and moved to the cot. "I might need extra attention."

"Paperwork?" he repeats, still not quite sure if he believed that. Then again it was possible... politics seemed to have a lot of paperwork. Humming thoughtfully Sam brings his chair over and takes a seat in front of Cyril and holds out his hand.

"Alright, let me see it then." A pause before he gives Cyril a look. "Honestly you shouldn't be doing paperwork either. Magic can do a lot, but if you over do it there might be some things I can't fix."

Cyril chuckles softly, amused by the look that Sam is giving him. "I admit, I might be pretending the pain is worse than it is just to see a certain handsome healer again."

He's honestly very paranoid about not healing his hand. He's worried about using a bow again.
